Guaranteed-return crypto investments

A platform or 'mentor' shows impressive profits, but you can never withdraw your money.

Sample content for development. This profile will be reviewed by DTI before launch.

How it works

Victims are introduced to an investment app or website, often by someone they met online. Early small withdrawals may work, which builds trust. Larger deposits follow, then 'taxes' or 'fees' are demanded before any money can be withdrawn.

Hi! I saw your profile and thought you'd be interested. My students earn 30% every week with zero risk on this platform. I can show you how to start with just $250 😊

Warning signs

  • Guaranteed or unusually high returns
  • A contact you met online coaching you to invest
  • Pressure to deposit more to 'unlock' your balance
  • Fees or taxes demanded before you can withdraw

Common tactics

  • Fake dashboards showing growing balances
  • Screenshots of other people's 'profits'
  • Moving the conversation to private messaging apps

What to do

  1. Stop depositing. Paying fees to withdraw never gets the money back
  2. Keep records of every transaction, wallet address and conversation
  3. Be wary of 'recovery services' that contact you promising to get money back for a fee
  4. Report to your country's fraud reporting service and financial regulator

Reporting

Report the message or account to the platform it came through, then report to your country's official fraud reporting service. If money or banking details are involved, contact your bank or payment provider first.
